Congratulations to the Incredible ProStart Student Competitors

We commend your hard work and dedication, and we extend our gratitude to the educators, parents, judges, volunteers, and supporters for making CA ProStart 2024 a success. Below is a recap of the winning teams in both Management and Culinary, along with photos and additional highlights from this year’s event.

2024 Highlights!

  • Kristen Collins from Pacifica High School was named the ProStart Educator of the Year 
  • Over 300 students attended the College + Career Expo
  • Glen A. Wilson High School won the Team Spirit Award presented by Coca-Cola and snagged theme park tickets
  • Students competed in the Wienerschnitzel’s Dress Your Dog hotdog topping competition and the Loaded Idaho Baked Potato competition! They had just 10 minutes to prepare their creations. The entries were judged by executives from Wienerschnitzel and the Idaho Potato Commission.
  • Valeria from Bell Gardens High School was announced as the winner of the NORMS Hotcake Topper Competition that was hosted in October. Her creative churro topper may be featured on the NORMS menu!

 Winning Menu: 3-course meal of Raviolo Doppio, Pan-Seared Elk Tenderloin, and a layered Mascarpone Mousse.

Winning Concept: Teddy’s is a fresh new idea for ProStartville students and sports fans that ties back to the college mascot. We serve un-bear-ably good breakfast all day, allowing everyone to score an energizing meal. 

Wienerschnitzel’s Dres Your Dog Competition

  1. San Dimas High School (Los Angeles County)
  2. Sherman Indian High School (Riverside County)
  3. San Dimas High School (Los Angeles County)

Top Dog: A teriyaki glazed hotdog wrapped in seaweed, topped with fresh avocado, and cucumber ribbons, finished with sriracha mayo drizzle, and sesame dresses microgreens.

 

Loaded Idaho Baked Potato Competition

  1. San Dimas High School (Los Angeles County)
  2. Orange County School of the Arts (Orange County)
  3. Glen A. Wilson High School (Los Angeles County)

Winning Potato: A delightful twist on the classic mango sticky rice dessert. This treat used Idaho potatoes, infused with the flavors of ripe mango and coconut. Served with a drizzle of mango-infused syrup and sprinkled with toasted coconut flakes, and moong daal.
